ITC Avant Garde Gothic Font

by ITC foundry

ITC Avant Garde Gothic is a sans-serif family based on the logo font used in Avant Garde magazine. Herb Lubalin devised the logo concept and a companion headline typeface, then worked with Tom Carnase, a partner in his design firm, to turn that idea into a full typeface, released by ITC in 1970. Edward Benguiat, Christian Mengelt, Erich Gschwind, and André Gürtler are also credited. The family now spans extra-light to bold weights with matching obliques, along with condensed and Paneuropean styles.
