LL Bradford is an all-purpose serif family for high-volume text, developed over ten years by Laurenz Brunner with assistance from Wei Huang and Selina Bernet. Its main historical reference is Römische Antiqua (1884), the widely imitated German design that also informed Plantin and Times New Roman. Brunner aimed to preserve the physical presence of hot metal type, first using early versions in 2007 for the Dutch art serial Casco Issues. Released by Lineto in 2018, it extends from Light to Black with matching italics—fourteen cuts plus a monospace companion—and combines robust construction with elegant italic curves in a functional yet playful face.
