by Monotype

Arial is a sans-serif drawn in 1982 by Robin Nicholas and Patricia Saunders at Monotype for an early IBM laser printer. It later became a staple for textual content. The family now ranges from light to black, with italic counterparts in the core weights, and includes condensed, narrow, rounded, and monospaced styles as well as Greek and Cyrillic versions.
